John W.R. Maguire and his anti-injunction bill.\u00a0\u00a0He received a standing ovation when he presented the bill in 1925 to the IL House of Representatives. The bill became law\u00a0&#8211; protecting the rights of workers.<\/p>\n<p>Fr.\u00a0Maguire was a leader in working for the\u00a0social justice issues of his times.\u00a0 His life&#8217;s work\u00a0would make an excellent topic for a research project or paper.<\/p>\n<p>The Viatorian Archives holds the personal papers of Fr. Maguire, who\u00a0was instrumental in resolving numerous labor disputes back in the 1920s and 30s.<\/p>\n<p>His\u00a0collection contains 7 boxes of materials which include correspondence, writings, radio addresses, lecture notes, photographs, publications and two unpublished biographies.\u00a0 Here is a link to his <a href=\"http:\/\/viatorianarchives.com\/archon\/?p=collections\/controlcard&amp;id=74\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">materials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#Throwback Thursday on the ViatorianUSA Facebook page this week featured Fr.
